MIT OVERVIEW
The purpose of this “Minister in Training Curriculum” is to train and equipment you for a lifelong servitude to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are so elated with your decision to follow the will of Father God for your life. To lead through serving first our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and secondly by serving the people off God. John 12:26 say “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.” Our first calling is a call to follow Jesus Christ as born-again believers. As we follow Christ with a heart of true servant, the Lord blesses us with the responsibility of the second call, to the equipping of others to follow Christ as well.
You are servants of God and we look forward to working with you over the next eight months as we come together in unity of our faith, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-14.
We are very humbled that we have a direct part to play in your journey into ministry. We hope this curriculum and program will provide you with a look at ministry today, teaching you the skills to grow in ministry, church or whatever facet of God has called you into (lay leader, ministry worker, pastor, elder, or etc...). It is through the word of God and the sharing of our practical experiences that we hope you will be completely and thoroughly equipped for every good work and service (2nd Timothy 3:17). We want to challenge you to not only learn information, but to reflect and apply it. We want you to move from knowledge to wisdom. Finally, to get an understanding as the word of God states “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."
If we looked up the word Minister” in the Greek, we would find that it simply means “servant”. “Ministry” or “minister” will always means “service”. Certainly, this agrees with Jesus’ definition of what ministry is NOT (authority or power or rule over others)! So, other words living a life in God to service those that are in the Body of Christ but also those that do not know the Lord Jesus Christ. To help encourage, edify, and bring hope to them by sharing our faith, experiences, and the Word of God. Finally, by being a living epistle and ambassador before them that is living a life for God by chasing and pursing holiness, righteousness, and being set apart from the world by no longer being conformed to the ways of the world but by being transformed by the renewing of my mind, having a clean heart and a right spirit. Obviously, in order to do this, you have to build relationships and show love to all people even if they are not doing the will of the Father.
We believe that this Crossroad Christian Center Minister in Training School Curriculum was written by a diverse network of leaders in the Body of Christ as a resource for everyone that is or wants to be involved in the Body of Christ.
